Opera 10 Turbo changes your IP address

8 Comments // Written on Sep 04, 2009 // Tech News

Hey guys, I’ve been a big time user of Opera for over 5 years. Infact, I’ve been testing out Opera 10 right from the Alpha releases.  As you all know, one of the best features of Opera 10 is the Turbo, which speeds up the ‘loading’ of the website.  It looks pretty much like emulating the pc browser like a mobile browser.  In a mobile web browser, like Opera Mini, the browser connects the phone to another computer, buffers the data on the Opera server and then the data is sent back to the phone.  Similarly, the Opera 10 Turbo connects our computer to another computer and fetches the data from the connected computer.  You can test this yourself by,

1. Goto http://www.whatismyip.com/ and check your ip without turning on the Turbo 10 Feature*.

2. Now turn on the Turbo feature* and refresh the site .  You can see that there is change in the IP address just the mobile browser.

PSP Go, Coming this Fall 2009

No Comment // Written on Jun 15, 2009 // Gaming

The long awaited PSP Go system is coming this fall 2009.  Made for robust and ultraportablity, PSP Go is definitely a Class A product from Sony.  Even though the design of the new PSP Go is not every attractive (most of the polls around the web say so), the stunning 3.8″ 480 x 272 displays really puts quite a view.  Compared to previous PSP models, the PSP go contains a slider which reveals the controls within and has connectivity options from Bluetooth, wi-fi and a USB port which is similar to the Apple iPod Touch.  The memory of the console can be extended upto 32 GB with the Memory Stick Micro.  Also the PSP Go is 46% lighter and 56% smaller than the other PSP models.  Since the PSP Go doesn’t have a UMD drive, games have to be downloaded from the Playstation Store or the games can be downloaded on your PlayStation 3 which then can be transferred to your PSP Go, through the USB port.  Some of the announced games for the PSP go are the LittleBigPlanet, Jak and Daxter, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, MotorStorm.  Sony has confirmed that all games will be released after October 1, 2009 will be available for download.

We’ve seen mobiles with Touchscreen, QWERTY keyboards, GPS and more, but Solar Powered? Yes, Samsung brings solar powered mobile phones which would be long awaited dream of the Green Gadget Fans. The Samsung solar powered phones uses solar cells to recharge their batteries. The body of the phones is made of recycled water bottles and has no toxic wastes like brominated flame retardants, beryllium and phthalates. And that goes for the charger as well.

The device is more energy efficient with new phone energy saving mode. The phone also includes a pedometer, & a CO2 emission calculator, Samsung is aiming for minimal packaging made entirely from recycled paper. The Phone was unveiled in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 16th 2009. There are two solar powered mobiles for now, viz. Blue Earth, a beautiful green touchscreen phone and the Samsung Guru E1107. Here are some pictures of the solar powered gadgets :

Microsoft’s Next Move – Morro – A Free Trial Anti-Virus Suite

No Comment // Written on Jun 14, 2009 // Tech News

Microsoft is ready to release a trial version of its new antivirus suite code-named “Morro”, which is now being internally tested at Microsoft and would be released soon as a public beta, which will be available in its website.

After the failure of Windows Live OneCare, Microsoft is competing with tough challengers like Symantec, Alwil, McAfee, Kaspersky, etc which are some of the best Antivirus providers today. The Windows OneCare would be discontinued from June 30, 2009, as it is said on the Official Windows Live OneCare Blog. So, obviously Morro Service will be available from July. Microsoft will be helping OneCare users migrate to Morro as soon as it becomes Live. Even though OneCare was a failure, Morro is considered as a big threat to Symantec and McAfee. But they don’t expect Morro would not have an effect on their business, as people don’t rely on in-effective products, even for free. Should People go for free antivirus? or choose a subscription-based service? The answer lies right after the release of Microsoft’s freebie, the “Morro”. Here’s a Press Pass of their freebie at Microsoft.

Google has added a good voice in this ad. They are not saying that Chrome is the best browser around like most others do, they say just to try it. A need commercial with a nice theme. Infact, this ad was not even intended for TV. Very nicely done.
